Ie and Nage

A teacher, are you?
Nage, Meddyg dw i.
No, I'm a doctor
Meddyg yw e?
Ie.
Yes.
John wyt ti?
John, are you?
Nage, Dafydd dw i.
No I am Dafydd.
Janet yw hi?
Janet is she?
Nage Alison yw hi.
No she is Alison.

NOTES

The English in the above examples is probably not quite standard, but will probably be very familiar to any one from Wales even if they only speak English. This situation is where there is an emphasis on one of the items. In this case the yes and no are ie and nage. These, you will be glad to know, do not change.
